Street Missions

For the past many days we have had a fantastic schedule here in Ndalani, Kenya.

Most mornings we have awoken before 7 for group devotions and a breakfast of coffee or cocoa with hot milk, hard boiled eggs, bananas or papayas, and bran flakes or shredded wheat biscuits. One morning they even served us some wonderful pancakes.

After our meal we will either do a tour, or go to a classroom or other group on the MCF campus to sing. Yesterday, we were able to sit in with an 11-12 grade history class where we had a very rousing debate!

We are served a lovely tea time with cookies and tea or hot cocoa and then we are generally off for another performance or teaching time with the MCF missions teams. We have been able to take turns teaching each other songs and national anthems.

After a very filling lunch of ugali or chapati with green beans, tomatoes, onions and lentils we head out for an afternoon in a local school and marketplace. The weather here has been somewhat similar to Michigan in that it is cooler in the mornings and evening, but scorching through the daytime sun and especially while we have been in the markets.

Preparing the bus with our "stage." We grabbed several tables and benches from the classrooms to travel to Yatta Secondary School and Yatta market for our first mission outreach.

Yatta Secondary School students listening to our performance. We performed for this school with the MCF missions team.

Setting up our stage, gear and instruments to perform at Yatta market. A large crowd (and a few livestock!) gathered to hear our music, singing and dancing from MCF missions team and a evangelistic sermon from an MCF pastor.

Our drummers with the tech team accompanying our team as we played for the primary (k-4) students at MCF.

Teaching the MCF primary class how to sing "God is Big" with us! They learn so quickly and had so much fun. We were able to sing several songs as well as teach them two songs and a memory verse.

Our team with the Inyanzaani Primary School where we sang for the students and they received a word of encouragement from an MCF pastor.

We have had another outing today and many more things to post, but internet here in Africa is spotty. What is yet still amazing is that we have had internet at all! Five years ago, I was very fortunately able to visit Mully's for the first time and the changes here since then have been amazing, wifi access not being the least of these.

Ada Bible Church is immeasurably blessed to be partners with MCF. Every day we see more and more evidence of the amazing good they are doing in hundreds of children's lives, their communities, their country and even neighboring countries. We are so very honored to be able to encourage and bless these children, their teachers and helpers as well as the many people living in the surrounding villages.

Asante (thank you) again for your prayers!

Lots of Work, Lots of Blessings

The Ada Bible team is busy is Kenya! We arrived here at Mully Children's Family (MCF) mid-day Sunday and since we have arrived, we have been moving continually!

Shortly after arriving, we had a fantastic Kenyan meal of fresh tomatoes, green beans, onions and potatoes--almost all grown right here on the MCF farm. Then we spent the rest of the day touring the farm. They have 150 acres at the location where we are staying and another 500 acres down the road at another location. Monday we spent most of the day touring the

Ndalani location, where we are staying, houses almost 600 children and their teachers, several staff and many workers to work the farm, tree nursery, greenhouses and medical facility.

Tree Nursery

Yatta is the girls' rehabilitary home with almost 400 living there and another huge farm with several greenhouses, five water dams, a fish farm as well as many cows, goats and chickens.

Tilapia farm.

They grow so many vegetables here!

Their main crop is french green beans which they export a great deal of to Europe. Additionally, they grow corn, eggplant, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, kale, cabbage, carrots, spinach, papaya, mango and bananas. Most of the food they need to feed all of the children and staff as well as some meals for their workers. They give a great deal to the community and any excess is sold in the markets.

Kenya is in another severe drought. There are many communities who are in desperate need of water. MCF is able to provide much needed water to many families in the surrounding area with their dams, wells and water purification area.

Everywhere we go, we find more ways MCF is contributing to the growth of children and the growth of the community.

Part of the team has come to install projectors, screens and a sound system for the chapel here at Ndalani.

The rest of us are music folks. We have been able to sing and play for the children (and their children!) at Yatta as well as the group of farm workers here at Ndalani. We have a translator who helps explain what we are singing and an MCF pastor who preaches to the people who come to hear.

We also have already been blessed to hear their singing!

This afternoon we will be traveling to a school and market, singing, giving testimonies and preaching. They have kept us very busy and also fed us extremely well, showing us amazing hospitality.

Your prayers are always appreciated and coveted. Keep in mind safe travels, continued health, good operations of all the musical and technical gear as well as open hearts and minds of the many people we are coming in contact with and ministering to.

Asante sana! Swahili for, "thank you!"
